Financial Accountant (Corporate)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To review information produced by various service functions and to produce reliable financial information for the Corporate divisions within the organisation for optimal decision-making and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing review functions to support accurate and complete monthly reporting:
- Manage the monthly reporting process for the Pepkor Corporate divisions
- Review journals, the general ledger, and related reconciliations
- Review monthly invoicing
- Support and advise service functions and their finance departments
- Identify and implement improvements to the monthly process
- Review the corporate asset register
Cost Management:
- Manage and control the actual expenditure of the company
- Drive efficiencies throughout the service divisions
- Ensure detailed management of costs
Financial Reporting:
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting
- Manage relationships with service functions
- Support and advise service functions and their finance departments
- Review and analyse deliverables for accuracy and relevance
- Manage and deliver on ad-hoc requests
Budgeting:
- Overall responsibility for driving the budgeting process and preparing the final budget submissions
Financial Forecasting:
- Overall responsibility for the process, timing, and consolidation of the three-year plan
- Preparation of presentations on the consolidated three-year plan
- Ad-hoc financial forecasts and investigations
Compliance & Regulation:
- Ensure accuracy of VAT and tax returns
- Ensure accuracy of income tax calculations and provisional tax returns
- Ensure compliance with IFRS
- Facilitate compliance with the Income Tax Act, Companies Act, and CIPC requirements
Projects:
- Coordinate and lead other corporate projects
- Continuously review and evaluate the efficiency of processes within the Corporate division
JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS:
- 3 – 5 years’ post article experience
- 3 – 5 years relevant retail accounting experience will be an advantage
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with AGA(SA) profession certification
