  • Shared Service Manager

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    The Shared Services Manager will be responsible for establishing, leading and optimising Pepkor’s shared services function, ensuring the efficient delivery of centralised processes. This role will drive standardisation, compliance, and continuous improvement, while leveraging technology and automation to enhance efficiency and service quality. The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner to the businesses by providing accurate data, streamlined processes, and effective stakeholder support, enabling sustainable growth and operational excellence.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee day-to-day operations of shared services functions (non-trade payables, treasury, insurance claims, fixed assets, etc.)
    • Establish, monitor & improve service levels, SLAs / OLAs.
    • Lead process and policy standardisation, optimisation, automation & digitalisation efforts.
    • Manage a team (hiring, training, performance, capacity planning).
    • Stakeholder management: internal customers, external vendors, leadership teams.
    • Reporting, metrics, performance analysis, ensuring compliance & quality control.
    • Manage budgets, cost control, efficiency and ROI for shared services operations.
    • Transitioning functions/entities into shared services centres.
    • Ensuring data integrity, system accuracy, regulatory compliance.

    JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

    • 5-10 years in Shared Services or related functions; leadership experience at least at middle management level.
    • Relevant degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, additional certifications (Lean, process improvement) is advantageous and CA (SA).
    • Proficiency with shared services systems (finance), data analysis and reporting, and process optimisation/automation tools.
    • Strong communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and change management skills, with resilience and adaptability.
    • Solid knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements (labour law, payroll legislation, data protection, financial controls).
